Happy October!! The Coquette team had an extremely successful summer and we’re carrying that momentum right into the Fall. October is shaping up to be a great month for us. We’re kicking off the Fall with a double-header weddings on 10/10/10. Half the team will be out at Wente Vineyards and the other half will be at Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay.
Next up on our agenda is a fabulous charity fundraiser out in NY. We’re thrilled to be helping out at the “Save our Breast Friends” event. Jimeale New York and Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) are teaming up to host this event along with Kelly Rutherford. If you’re in NY on Oct 28, stop by and show your support for this amazing charity. Jimeale goody bags, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails will be served. A silent auction will also be held featuring high end accessories, snowboards, surfboards, photography and more.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Numerous organizations are doing their part in donating to charities benefiting Breast Cancer awareness and research. Here’s a few ways your wedding can help benefit these amazing charities:
- Donate your gown to Brides Against Breast Cancer. Every year, this organization takes their inventory on a tour across the US. Proceeds from the sale of the gowns are used to help someone for whom a cure is too late. Most gowns range in price from $99 to $799 and about half of the inventory consists of new designer gowns that arrive straight from the manufacturers. Check their website for information on how to donate your gown or to volunteer at an event. They gowns will be at the Fairmont in San Francisco from Oct 29 – 31. For more details, click here.
- Turn your bridal shower or wedding reception into a Pink Envelope Event. You can make a donation on behalf of your guests or your guests can donate directly to the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.
- Another simple way to help out is to purchase the Breast Cancer Research Stamp. To date, the stamp has raised over $54 million towards breast cancer research. The price of the self-adhesive, non-denominated semipostal stamp will be 55 cents. As a semipostal, it is valid for postage at the First-Class first-ounce letter rate in effect at the time of purchase.

For those of us not getting married, we can still do our part to donate to these foundations. And the best part, we can do it with some good ol’ retail therapy. A slew of designers have released limited edition items, where a portion of the profits will be donated to various charities.
- Simply Vera Wang has a selection of blush toned goodies available at Kohls and 100% of the net profits will be donated to the fight against breast cancer. All items are only $5 or $10.
- Bobbi Brown has released a Limited Edition Pink Shimmer Brick and will donate $35,000 in connection with the sale of this item.

- Be green and support the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade by purchasing this reusable polyester tote for $5. 100% of the net profits ($3.74) will be donated to the company’s crusade against breast cancer.
- For fancier occasions, pick up Laura Merkin’s Diana bag. Made of pink lambskin studded with Swarovski crystals, the chain can be adjusted to be worn across the body, on the shoulder or completely removed and used as a clutch. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition, which is dedicated to the unique issues young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer face.
