We here at Coquettish are big fans of engagement stories. We just love hearing the cute details of each couple’s engagement story and seeing the soon-to-be-bride glow at the sight of her new bling.
So do you get when you pair a personal trainer with a rugby player?? One hot couple! Meet Lauren and Mike, easy on the eyes and so sweet with each other.
They met at Penn State, but were just acquaintances. After graduation, Mike traveled the world and ended up moving to California. He soon made it back to his hometown of Brooklyn, while Lauren was living in New York City. By chance, he found Lauren online via a blog post of one of her clients. He sent her a message to say hello and suggested they meet up, since he had “nothing to do” before his trip back to CA to discuss a potential rugby deal. He took a late night drive from Brooklyn to the Upper East Side just to hang out. He left for his trip and upon his return, he told Lauren he decided to play for the New York Athletic Club instead of moving back to California. Coincidence? We think not.
Their engagement day was imperfectly perfect. Mike woke up violently ill on a Saturday morning. They had a big weekend planned with tons of NYC activities, including a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Instead, Lauren spent the day feeding him brown rice and apple sauce, while his body was not cooperating! He felt better late in the afternoon and decided to brave a walk across the bridge anyway. He took her down to the pier right below, and asked her to marry him. She said yes and he told her that knowing that she could care for him in his ugliest moments of illness and still look at him with loving eyes, he knew he had picked the right girl.
Lauren and Mike let us take some amateur engagement photos for them. They definitely weren’t afraid to kiss and cuddle for the camera. We loved it!
