A Tea Party For All Ages

By Coquettish in DIY, Events

The inspiration for our Mother’s Day Tea Party came from a piece of fabric that we found and made into our tablecloth. The colorful paisley-ish cloth served as a great backdrop to our party. We scattered vases filled with tulips, gerbera daisies, ranunculus, and mums on the tables. The ceiling was decorated with lanterns and stars and a bright DIY banner accented our back wall.

One of my favorite parts of party planning is the food! Our menu featured  homemade cucumber tea sandwiches, chicken curry tea sandwiches and two types of scones – dried cranberries and fresh strawberries. We accented with a spinach and arugula salad featuring a balsamic based dressing, fresh fruit and some mac n cheese. Originally the mac was for the youngsters, but we thought it’d be fun for everyone to have their own ramekin of mac. (Who doesn’t love mac and cheese, right?) Of course we also had a variety of teas as well as Belini’s and topped it all off with some delicious brownies.

We put together a short video clip with images from our celebration. I love that we were able to capture the element of surprise. To see the actual photos, check out our Flickr page. Video and photos taken by our unofficial staff photographer Greg Ma.

A big thank you to two special people – you know who you are. Without your help, this couldn’t have happened!
